Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. She was the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain. The actress was the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 The 1980s saw the actor-singer Prince christened Apollonia to be one of several female artists who gained from their association with him. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress by the end of the '70s with a role on the TV show CHiPS. The year 1984 saw her landing the title of female lead on Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she made a change to her name) and replaced Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. She had a greater impression on the charts when she was Prince's dance partner in Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. The two were dispute over the direction of her career Apollonia 6 broke up and Kotero ended her association with Prince. Her appearances in film roles (reportedly not wanting to appear part of her role in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon) prior to being cast in the role of Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia finally released her debut in 1988. But the rather tame set of dance and R&B songs did not be a hit with those who bought music, and it soon disappeared out of sight. The singer remained busy (if somewhat under the radar) as an actress in the following decade, appearing in small television roles and minor films and also released videos for exercises. In 1997, Apollonia released a Spanish/English album named Stay with me. In the following year, she went to college and received the degree of filmmaker. Then, she started her own production firm. Apollonia wears many different hats. Former model, actress singer and talent manager. The role she played as an actor in the 1984 film Purple Rain made her a celebrity. Apart from her role in Purple Rain, Kotero has appeared in other TV and films like Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She was part of a number of contests and pageants. Kotero took home in the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. At the beginning of 1980, she began her acting career.
