Then, she made her Broadway stage debut as Becky Thatcher in the comedy musical The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer. After that she was cast in the popular teen drama TV series Veronica Mars (2004). Her performance received critical acclaim as well as a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actress on television. In the 2014 film the series, she reprised her part as the title character in the new season, she played the title character. While on Veronica Mars, Bell starred in the role of Mary Lane in the musical film Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) which was reprising the role she performed in the New York musical of the same name.Bell starred as Elle Bishop in the superhero drama series Heroes from 2007 to the year 2008. Bell played the role of the character's narrator on the Teen Drama series Gossip Girl. The 2021 sequel will have her reprising the role. Bell was also the Showtime comedy House of Lies' lead actress, Jeannie van de Hooven. Bell was a part of Eleanor Shellstrop in the NBC comedy series The Good Place. This part earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award. Bell played the character of Eleanor Shellstrop in the streaming series The Woman in the Home Across the Street From the Girl in the Window.
